stages® Documentation - Home
Devices
Devices are identified by stages® by their transmitter (Xmit) code. Sites can have multiple devices, but devices can only belong to one site. If a device is being used to monitor more than one separate location (such as a row of stores in a mall), it an be configured with areas to represent each location.
Device Type
Device types are entered into the Device Type window (Setup > Device Setup > Device Type). The device type and description are required. If all devices of the type are configured for the same points or zones, the Device Configuration can be entered on the Device Type level. Devices can also be configured at the site group and site level. Devices will follow the Hierarchy for Site Device, Site Group Device and Device Type when applying Event Codes and Action Plans.
Device Type Commands can be entered for devices that support two-way voice communication.
Site Device
Access the Device tab from the Site Data Entry window. When adding a new device, the Xmit Code will be added once the device has been setup. To change the Xmit Code, press the Xmit button on the bottom of the window.
The Device type lookup links to the devices entered in the Device Type setup window. The Device will receive the defaults set up on the Device Type setup or the Site Group Device setup with the same Device Type.
Setup the timer test fields for the device. The Timer Test can be configured to receive any signal, or a specific signal. The time interval of the test signal and the Event Code generated if the test signal is not received are entered. The Timer Test is scheduled in Device Status. Site group default devices can be setup with the timer test information that will be applied to the sites.
Device specific action plan should only be entered for a specialized device.
Devices placed on Out of Service (OOS) will log all signals coming in, but will not generate any alarms. Devices can be placed on test when first installed on a site and mass-activated by Site Group. Options for Out of Service status are setup in the OOS Category window (Setup > Device Setup > OOS Category). A default OOS Category can be applied when entering new devices in the stages® Options window (Utilities > stages™ > stages™ Options).
The IVR# is an alternate # used to identify the device in the SGS IVR system. For instance, if the Xmit# is d99-9999 the IVR# could be 999999, so that the caller only has to enter numbers.
If entered, The Alt Device ID will be used by Signal Processing instead of the Xmit#. If an Alt Device ID is entered, the Xmit can be changed. This can be used for Multiple Account Locations.
Once the device has been saved, the Xmit button will be active to open the Modify Xmit# window. Enter the Xmit Code. Site Groups are assigned ranges of transmitter codes in the Xmit Code Control window (Utilities > Device > Xmit Code Control). The validation process will check to see if the Xmit# is available for the site group(s) the account belongs to.
Device Phones
Device Phones are listed for ANI lines that report to this device. An ANI line reporting to this device will automatically be added to the list. The Signal Search utility (Utilities > Processing > Signal Search) can be filtered by Phone #.
Device Users
Site Contacts are entered as Device Users by their panel userid entered in the Contacts tab/window. When the contact enters their User ID into the panel, the contact name will be logged into the history for the event. Users can be set up with Unscheduled Disarm Rules for Areas with schedules.
Additional Information
Additional Information specific to your central station can be entered by setting up fields in the User Defined Fields window (Setup > stages™ Setup > User Defined Fields).
Instructions
Instructions can be entered on a Device that will display in a tab on the Alarm Dispatch window. Instruction Pages from Legacy Software that were converted to stages™ will be converted as an Instruction.
Recurring Tests
The Device can be set up with Recurring tests. The Expire date can be set like 12/31/2099. Recurring Tests are applied a day/time schedule. For the times entered on the schedule, the device will automatically be placed on test. Incoming Signals during this time will be logged as test events. A list of Recurring Tests appear in the Device Test window opened from Alarm Dispatch.
Device Copy
The Device can be copied into the site from another by using the Device Copy function in the Site Detail. The device can be copied with or without the configuration controlled by the 'device configuration' flag.
Devices can also be copied using the Device Copy window (Utilities > Device > Device Copy). The device copy utility allows copy of other options as well such as contacts, phones...etc.
Device Delete
Device Types and Site Group Devices can be deleted, provided they are not in use by any Sites. Site devices can not be deleted from the Site windows. In order to delete a site device, use the device delete window (Utilties > Device > Device Delete). Search for a Site and press the Device button to get the devices listed on that site. The Devices can be deleted from the list or the whole site can be deleted to the right.
Device Configuration
Devices are setup with points (zones) in the Device Configuration window. Devices can be configured for the Site, Site Group and Device Type. Points are assigned event codes and action plans.
Device Test/Runaway
Devices can be placed On Test or Runaway to ignore incoming signals.
Device Relocate
Devices can be relocated from another site in Site Data Entry. All Device information associated with the device (config, schedules...) will be relocated as well.
